Mark Keating – LLB, MTaxS (Hons), LLM
Mark Keating is a barrister specialising in tax law with over 20 years experience. He specialises in Good and Services Tax, S.M.E. tax matters and tax administration (particularly resolving tax disputes or debt issues with Inland Revenue).
He graduated LLB and MTaxS (Hons) from the University of Auckland, and LLM from Cornell Law School in New York.
From 1996-2006 he was a Senior Consultant Solicitor for Inland Revenue’s specialist aggressive tax investigations teams. In 2009 he was a consultant to Crown Law working on large scale tax avoidance litigation. Since 2010 Mark has represented private clients in their dealings with Inland Revenue.
From 2005 to 2017 Mark also taught tax law as a Senior Lecturer in the University of Auckland Business School. He quite literally wrote the book on Tax Disputes with IRD and also co-authored the book GST in New Zealand. Mark has also had numerous articles published in both academic and professional journals and has presented to numerous conferences. He is a regularly media commentator on tax matters.
